BCBA practice questions: make the review count
A question bank is most useful when each answer leads to a clearer explanation. This guide gives you a repeatable review process to use alongside your coursework, supervision, and official BACB materials.

Start with a question you can explain
Choose a short session in a topic you have studied. Answer before opening the explanation. Write a sentence naming the idea you believe the question is testing and the detail in the prompt that led you to your choice. If you only recognize a phrase, mark the item for a deeper review.
Compare the alternatives
For each alternative, ask what would have to change in the scenario for that option to fit. This helps separate related concepts. Do not assume that reading an explanation once means you can apply the concept in a different setting. If the rationale conflicts with your course text or official materials, keep the item flagged and verify the underlying concept.
Keep a useful review note
Use three short fields: the concept, the reason for your mistake, and the next action. For example, your next action might be rereading a textbook section or discussing an application with a supervisor. Avoid copying a long answer verbatim: the note should help you explain your reasoning in your own words.
Return with a fresh example
Revisit saved questions after studying the concept, then try a new question on the same topic. Repeating the identical item can produce familiarity with its wording. A fresh scenario gives you another opportunity to examine whether your reasoning transfers. Alternate focused review with mixed-topic practice.
Use your score as feedback
Record the number attempted and the topics you found difficult. A score from a small or repeated set is a narrow snapshot, not a prediction of your certification outcome. Use it to choose the next review task instead of treating a single percentage as a readiness threshold.
